What is a Heart Attack
There is a medical emergency called a heart attack, which occurs when the coronary arteries, which branch off from the aorta, stop supplying blood to parts of the heart muscle. The heart muscle is injured when a blocked coronary artery prevents it from receiving oxygen or blood. Heart Attack If this lack of blood supply continues for more than 20 minutes, the muscle tissue may die. Heart attacks are medically called myocardial infarctions.
Symptoms
Symptoms of chest pain include feeling tight, pressured and heavy in the chest as if it is being squeezed There is also a possibility of pain radiating to other areas of the body like the arms(generally the left arm), Heart Attack the neck, jaw, back, and abdomen.

People admitted to hospital with suspected heart attacks will have an electrocardiogram within 10 minutes of arrival if they are suspected of having a heart attack. ECG machines record electrical signals generated by the heartbeat, which doctors can interpret to evaluate how well the heart is functioning. Causes of a heart attack
It is coronary heart disease(CHD) is the leading cause of heart attacks.
Plaques, which are cholesterol deposits, clog the major blood vessels that supply the heart, leading to CHD.
A blood clot develops at the rupture site of one of the plaques before a heart attack.
A heart attack may occur when the blood supply to the heart is blocked by the clot.
Preventing a heart attack
Heart attacks(or heart attacks in the future) can be reduced by taking these five steps:
- Quit smoking if you are a smoker
- You should lost weight if you are overweight
- Maintain a regular exercise program – adults should engage in moderate-intensity aerobic activity at least 150 minutes a week, unless otherwise directed by their doctor.
- Include wholegrains and at least five portions of fruit and vegetables per day in a low-fat, high-fiber diet.
- Don’t drink too much alcohol
